Brian received a pre-university scholarship from UK Ellesmere College to pursue music education. 1989, he participated as first violin leader in college's orchestra for chamber Music competition which won top honors. In 1990, he won second prize in youth section of the Shropshire Violin Concert Competition in England.

Brian received his B.A. (hons) in Violin and Piano performance from Birmingham Conservatoire, UK and left for Beijing Conservatory of music studied education and gain his music education certificate. In 1997, he completed his Master's programmed in violin performance at London College of Music & Media, UK, under the international renowned violin professor and performance, Mayumi Fujikawa.

Brian not only teaches but frequently gives piano and violin performance. He regularly organizes seminar workshop in various musical ensembles, activities and also in orchestra music camps and concerts in places like Penang, Melaka, KL Tower & Sarawak Cultural Village. From year 2000 - 2004, Brian was appointed as conductor for Penang State Symphony Band (PESSBAND) and also become assistant conductor for Penang State Symphony Orchestra and Chorus (PESSOC). In 2004, he was also contract lecturer for the Dolce Music incorporation in San Diego (USA), conducting the music seminar & instrument teaching.

He also appointed as a panel of examiners for London College of Music & Media (LCMM) Examination Board in 2003. Now, Brian is the resident conductor of UPM Symphony Orchestra.
