This is one of the most exciting and rewarding scuba course offered by PADI. PADI Rescue Divers are taught the knowledge and skills that empower them not just to take care of themselves but also to consider the safety and well-being of other divers around them. It's always reassuring to know that you are diving with a Rescue Diver who would be able to lend assistance to you, should you need any during a dive!
Rescue Diver students learn to manage more complex diving emergencies and to apply the most appropriate technique to assist other divers in emergency situations. The course is divided into three (3) modules:
1. Knowledge Development (KD). Student divers learn from the PADI Rescue Diver manual and watch the Rescue Diver DVD. Review sessions will be organised with our instructors to help students with KD areas which they find a bit more challenging.
2. Rescue Training Sessions (RT). Students learn and practice ten (10) rescue skills in confined or open water.
3. Open Water Rescue Scenarios. The simulations! Here students will get an opportunity to put into practice all the skills that they have learnt during RT sessions, in open water environment. Four (4) diving accident scenarios will be set up by our instructors, with the help of qualified assistants and the students will be required to respond to these scenarios. Students use their own judgement to decide on the best way to handle each diving emergencies and to perform the rescue.
Students who have successfully complete the PADI Rescue Diver course cite it as the most rewarding course they have ever taken. Challenging but very rewarding!
